For those among my readers, who cherish the works of Arthur Conan Doyle and enjoyed watching Torchwood and Enterprise (you know who you are), a little something to make you lose all hope in humanity and common decency:

I just stumbled upon a beautiful piece of Sherlock Holmes fan fiction, courtesy of Mitchell and Webb.

This is from the fifth book Death Masks. Harry needs to get in touch with his friend Michael and is desperate enough to call him at home, thereby risking having to talk to his wife Charity.

I wonder if my female readership can relate )

And here is another one from Summer Knights. Harry and Billy the Werewolf are catching up after Harry has made himself scarce for some time. This takes place while they are collecting toads in the park and shortly before they are ambushed by an old lady with a shopping cart.

Get a hobby )

This is from the 4th Dresden Files book Summer Knight. This scene features on of my favourite characters, Karrin Murphy, a strong, competent female who is not introduced as a romantic interest and gets to play the shining knight to Harry's damsel in distress several times.

Best laid plans )

Inspired by [info]morelindos Aubreyad Quote of the Day, I decided I would like to share my most memorable moments of the highly enjoyable Dresden Files series with you.

Okay, let's get this party started.

Day 1 - The book I read at the moment

"The Lord of the Rings" )

Remind me to read this masterpiece again in another twenty years time.

PS: After reading the book again I find it highly likely that Gimli is a female and that Gandalf is a Timelord.

Subject: 31 days - 31 books

[info]willoweed got infected with a book meme and the infection spread over to me. I will probably not keep the "book a day" deadlines. Also, I will do this in English, as almost all of my media consumption is in English these days. Quite a lot of my current reading is actually audio books, which I will treat the same as printed books here. It is even possible that a few comic books will make appearances...

Day 1 - The book I read at the moment
Day 2 - The book I am going to read next
Day 3 - My favorite book
Day 4 - My most hated book
Day 5 - A book I could read over and over
Day 6 - A book I can only read once (either good or bad)
Day 7 - A book that reminds me of a person
Day 8 - A book that reminds me of a place
Day 9 - The first book I ever read
Day 10 - A book written by my favorite author
Day 11 - A book I once loved, but now hate
Day 12 - A book that someone recommended to me
Day 13 - A book that always makes me laugh
Day 14 - A book from my childhood
Day 15 - The 4th book from the left on my shelf
Day 16 - The 9th book from the right on my shelf
Day 17 - Picked from my shelf with closed eyes
Day 18 - The book with the most beautiful cover I own
Day 19 - A book I always wanted to read
Day 20 - The best book I read in school
Day 21 - The worst book I read in school
Day 22 - The book with the least pages on my shelf
Day 23 - The book with the most pages on my shelf
Day 24 - A book noone would have thought I read
Day 25 - A book whose protagonist is quite similar to me
Day 26 - A book I would read to my children
Day 27 - A book whose protagonist is my paragon
Day 28 - Luckily they made this book into a movie!
Day 29 - Why the hell did they make this book into a movie?!?
Day 30 - The book I read at the moment
Day 31 - The book I am going to read next
